In an ideal scenario, you’ll find a job you love so much that it doesn’t feel like work at all. However, regardless of your job satisfaction level, finding a balance between your time spent at work and a fulfilling personal life is a valuable goal.

1. Health and Nutrition

Without physical health, not much else is possible. Strive to eat right, address health problems early and get enough sleep every night. Your diet should include plenty of organic fruits and vegetables as well as lean protein. Drink plenty of fresh water and have alcohol and sweets only in moderation.

2. Family and Relationships

Spend dedicated time with friends and loved ones outside of work to help ensure these relationships remain strong. Cultivate great connections with colleagues and friends within the workplace as well to enhance the work experience and optimize morale.

3. “Unrelated” Interests

Pursuing passions and hobbies outside of work is also an important component of work-life balance. For example, playing a musical instrument outside of work can be an excellent counterpoint for someone who works in a highly technical job.

4. Exercise

Regular exercise supports physical and emotional health. It’s also great for stress relief and optimizing mood, making it an important component of work-life balance.

5. Community Involvement

Feeling integrated with the geographic area in which you live is another key component of a balanced, fulfilling life. Find ways to give back to your community such as through volunteer work, attending town hall meetings and/or joining community groups.
